Amos and Peter — From the Streets to a Future Worth Living
Amos and Peter were once stealing to survive, with no hope and no path forward. Today, one works in Kampala and the other is completing his A-Levels. This is what intervention, education, and compassion can do. Your donation helps us reach the next child standing at that same crossroads.

Two boys. No future. One moment of intervention that changed everything.
The Day HAFT Found Amos and Peter
Amos and Peter were caught stealing bananas from a plantation — not out of defiance, but out of desperation. They had no food, no guidance, no one looking out for them, and no realistic path to anything better. When community members caught them and subjected them to a beating, it was HAFT's founder who stepped in — not to punish them, but to rescue them.
That single act of intervention set two lives on an entirely different trajectory.
Amos had completed primary school but had no means to continue. Peter had dropped out in Senior 2. Both received sponsorship that covered their secondary school fees, uniforms, and learning materials.
Where They Are Today
Peter completed Senior 4 in 2020. Today he works in a shop in Kampala — earning an honest income, supporting his family, and living with a stability he could not have imagined when HAFT first found him. From desperation to independence in six years.
Amos completed Senior 4 in 2022 and has continued. As of 2025, he is pursuing his A-Level studies — demonstrating the kind of determination that emerges when someone is given a real chance. His future is open.
The Children Still Waiting
Amos and Peter's transformation did not happen by accident. It happened because someone chose to act — and resources were available to follow through. Today, our community health workers continue to identify young people in similar situations across western Uganda: children who have dropped out, youth living on the margins, teenagers who are one crisis away from a path they cannot come back from.
This fundraiser supports our ongoing work with vulnerable youth — education sponsorship, mentorship, psychosocial support, and connection to vocational opportunities for young people who need exactly what Amos and Peter received.

"I did not think I had a future. HAFT showed me I was wrong. Everything I have now, I am building because someone believed in me when I did not believe in myself."
— Amos, A-Level student, 2025
One Intervention. A Lifetime of Difference.
The cost of sponsoring a child through secondary school in Uganda is a fraction of what it would cost to deal with the consequences of that child's exclusion from education — poverty, vulnerability, crime, generational hardship.
Amos and Peter proved what is possible. Your donation finds the next child at that crossroads — and gives them the same chance.
Give today. Change a life that is still being written.
