Some lives are short. Their impact does not have to be.

The Story of Aron and Michael

Aron and Michael were two young brothers living with cerebral palsy in western Uganda, under the care of their devoted but financially overwhelmed single mother. Every day was a struggle — for basic care, for dignity, for any quality of life at all.

When HAFT learned of their situation, our team intervened immediately. The boys received quality beds designed for their needs, specialized sitting chairs, regular healthcare support, bedding, nutritional assistance, and sustained financial aid. For two years, their home was transformed — from a place of exhaustion and helplessness into one of care and dignity.

Aron passed away in 2020. His brother Michael followed in 2021.

They lived short lives. But those lives mattered — and they were filled with more comfort, more care, and more dignity in their final years because people chose to act.

Their Story Is Not Finished

Across western Uganda today, there are other children like Aron and Michael — living with physical disabilities, chronic illness, and developmental challenges, in families with no resources to provide appropriate care. Our community health workers continue to identify them in their household surveys. Too often, we find them too late.

This fundraiser continues their story. Every contribution made in honor of Aron and Michael goes directly toward:

  • Adaptive equipment and specialized furniture for children with physical disabilities
  • Nutritional support for children with complex care needs
  • Regular home visits from our trained community health volunteers
  • Referrals to specialist medical services through our health center partnerships

How Your Donation Makes a Difference

  • $30 — covers one month of nutritional support for a child with complex care needs
  • $80 — funds monthly home visits from a trained community health volunteer
  • $200 — provides adaptive equipment for one child — a chair, a bed, or mobility support
  • $500 — supports one vulnerable child and family for a full six months of comprehensive care
"The HAFT team gave my sons dignity when I could not. I will always be grateful. I hope their story helps other children who are suffering the way they did."
— Aron and Michael's mother, Kabarole District

May They Rest in Peace — May Their Legacy Live On

Aron and Michael are gone. But the children who need the same care and compassion they received are still here — waiting for someone to show up at their door.

Donate in their memory. Help us give another child the care they deserve.
