Protecting Mothers and Newborns in Rural Kabarole

Uganda has one of the highest maternal mortality rates in sub-Saharan Africa. In rural Kabarole, many mothers give birth without skilled attendants. Since 2017, HAFT volunteer health workers have educated expectant mothers on antenatal care, followed up on newborn immunizations, and connected high-risk pregnancies with health facility care across Western Uganda.
